Flooring

Flooring

Dec 31 2014

The flooring had to be hard wearing and not fussed by sand or mud, so I chose some industrial non-slip rubberised sheeting for this.  It is made of re-constituted rubbery stuff and is acid proof, just in case....

It was an easy job to cut out the profiles and fit them down the passageway.  I put masking tape over the joins to stop the glue getting on the top surface, but this was a useless idea.

The glue was nasty stuff!  A bit like toothpaste and chewing gum combined together.  It was 2 pack, so once the hardener was mixed in you only had an hour of workable time before it set.

To get the right thickness of glue, it came with a saw toothed spreader blade.

It wasn't too bad a job to do really, and the whole thing only took about three hours from go to whoa.

It has transformed the look of the cabin, and is quite nice and soft to walk on. Strangely, it makes the cabin feel quieter too.

This is how the entrance looks now.
